PowlVac secondary disconnect retainer clip installation
August 18, 1998
In response to customer requests, the PowlVac breaker was enhanced to include a retaining clip for the secondary disconnect plug. Some customers had experienced conditions where the plug would work out of the receptacle while conducting multiple operations in the test position. The secondary disconnect is held captive when the breaker is racked into the cell and cannot work loose. This simple clip is now a standard riveted assembly, but can be added in the field if desired.
| The clip is located directly below the secondary disconnect interlock tab. The spring action of the clip slides over the stop pin on the tab of the secondary disconnect as it is inserted. The spring is depressed to release the tab. | ![]() |

| Align the cover on the breaker and locate the clearance holes in the breaker frame. The cover is mounted flush and requires the drilling of two 1/2" holes, sufficient sized to clear the hardware. Take care not to damage the wiring behind the drilled surface. | ![]() |
| Attach the clip with the 1/4" machine screws provided in the kit. | ![]() |
| Finally, confirm that the stop pin of the secondary disconnect protrudes below the insertion tab at least 1/4" to enable latching. Drive the roll pin downward if required. | ![]() |
